A Letter from WANT Regarding RFP for Trumbull School
At our December meeting, WANT members passed a motion to submit a letter to Alderman O'Connor regarding its position on the sale of Trumbull School based on the presentations at the Alderman's community meeting on November 24. In addition, we are encouraging all residents to send their feedback immediately if they have not done so already, including their address, to ward40@cityofchicago.org, or fill out Alderman O'Connor's survey by clicking here.
The letter sent to the Alderman's office reads:
Dear Alderman O'ConnorAt its December 4, 2014 General Meeting, the following motion was passed by a simple majority of members present by West Andersonville Neighbors Together:That WANT make known to the Alderman its request that the RFP for the former Trumbull School property include the following:
- That landmark status for the exterior be sought and the significant features of the auditorium be preserved in any redevelopment;
- That WANT continues to advocate for a non-charter school reuse restriction in the RFP;
- That any proposed RFP be reviewed by members of the working group in place regarding the Trumbull redevelopment prior to submission.
WANT has also previously stated that a traffic and parking study be undertaken for any redevelopment proposal.Thank you for engaging the community in this important process. We appreciate having our organization's voice heard and included.Sincerely,Michael D. Fickon behalf of West Andersonville Neighbors Together
