Redesigned Andersonville Playlot!

You voted, and the Park District listened! Below is the design that was chosen by a significant majority of people who voted for the new playground design of Andersonville Playlot (at Ashland and Farragut). If the weather cooperates, construction should begin in the spring and take about eight weeks to complete. We have tentative plans for a grand re-opening for the park once it is complete - stay tuned for more details! Andersonville Presentation Sketch-REVISED

You will see one change to the original sketch on which we voted; in response to community feedback that more equipment for younger children was needed, the Park District agreed to switch out a four-person teeter-totter with a playhouse. In addition to the new play equipment, general repairs will be made to the playlot and new benches installed.

The Park District has suggested that the neighborhood could form a Parks Advisory Council for Andersonville Playlot. Here is the description of a PAC: "PAC’s are the community voice for their neighborhood park, children’s playground, beach or natural area.  PAC’s make a real difference in their parks, whether they are creating a garden, fundraising for a new playground, hosting special events, sponsoring a recreation program or advocating for improved services in the park. Park advisory councils work with the park supervisor or other staff in the Chicago Park District to make long and short term plans, plan park events and guide the park district in choosing activities and events that best suit the neighborhood park."
