Every year, each Chicago ward receives $1.3 million in “menu money” to be allocated toward ward infrastructure improvements. Ald. Vasquez and the 40th Ward want as many neighbors as possible to weigh in on how best to allocate this money. 40th Ward residents can submit project ideas, which are then vetted by the city to determine feasibility, and a select number will be placed on the ballot for a community vote in December.

Potential project ideas include alley & street resurfacing, sidewalk repairs, park improvements, speed humps, public art, and more. Last year, projects approved by 40th Ward voters included street resurfacing, a pedestrian island, water fountain installations, public safety cameras, and a Mural at Mather High School.

Looking ahead to the next PB cycle, the goal is to increase community involvement by collecting even more project proposals and increasing PB voter participation.

If you have an idea for a ward infrastructure or park improvement, beautification project, or safety improvement, submit it here!
